Ace are currently recruiting for a senior communications officer to work in the Leicester and Leicestershire area

Purpose of the role:

-Play a pivotal role in leading a multi-disciplined communications team
-Plan, implement and evaluate communications to deliver agreed outcomes for the client
-Manage the clients reputation, advising managers and officers on communications issues
-Co-ordinate the delivery of external and internal communications, line managing officers, evaluating activity and monitoring budgets

Within the role:
You will develop and manage external and internal communications which are designed to manage reputation, deliver behavior change or generate income.

This means:

• creating and implementing a wide range of external and internal communications strategies, using commercial and social marketing techniques to support the council’s priorities

• managing channels and materials cost-effectively including digital and social media, video, printed materials, advertising

• playing a key role in the development of high quality, creative content – which can be adapted for a range of channels – including the clients magazines and newsletters

• managing external and internal events and briefings which engage with stakeholders and staff

• pulling together multi-disciplined teams to work on time-specific tasks so that our communications are integrated and make the most cost-effective use of our resources

• ensuring compliance with the clients corporate brand guidelines

• being alert to and managing risk to the clients reputation


Subject to the duration of the need, the special conditions given below apply:

-The nature of the work may involve the post-holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours.

-The post-holder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service.

– Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Local Conditions of Service.

– Casual car user

Experience Needed:
– Educated to degree level or equivalent or equivalent level of relevant experience
– Designing, delivering and evaluating communications strategies and implementation plans
– Successfully delivering communications within a large organisation
-Working under pressure and managing demand
-Event planning, development and delivery
-Supervising staff
-The role of communications in a large, complex, diverse, public sector organisation
-Digital and social media as part of an integrated approach to communications
-A range of research and evaluation tools and techniques
-Equality and diversity and of communicating relevant key messages
-Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to use a range of different styles to suit the needs of different audiences
-Excellent writing skills and editorial judgement with an ability to create content proactively and re-actively for all channels
-Able to manage complex projects
-Able to build strong and resilient relationships with external partners and stakeholders
-Able to represent the authority in a suitable manner
-Willing to work outside normal hours on occasion as required by the service
