Skilled Road Worker
Ace are currently recruiting for Skilled road workers to work in the Leicester and leicestershire area
To work as a member of a team to deliver a best value, customer-focussed service throughout Leicestershire and occasionally surrounding counties, working flexibly, efficiently and effectively to maintain highways and footpaths and construct new roadways and structures in accordance with statutory requirements
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1.To work on various construction and maintenance projects to increase expertise in civil engineering disciplines, and to gain experience in technical practices; safe working procedures and use of equipment and power tools.
2.To carry out activities to a high standard, and to assist in the development of skills for less experienced operatives, and encourage experiential learning whilst on site.
3.To maintain training records in accordance with the requirements of the personal development process.
4.To comply with all authority and departmental policies, management systems, procedures and working practices (especially in relation to Health and Safety procedures).
5.Any other reasonable duties which may be allocated from time to time by management commensurate with the responsibilities of the post
Subject to the duration of the need, the special conditions given below apply
a.The nature of the work may involve the post-holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours, including working at nights and weekends.
b.Working hours will start and finish at site or at a Depot.
c.The postholder will be responsible for getting themselves to/from either the depot or site
d.To attend Health Surveillance appointments as required.
e.The postholder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service.
You must have:
– Valid CSCS card
– Skilled Road-worker Trades Test Assessment
– NVQ level 2 in Highway Maintenance or similar
– Extensive ability to take measurements and make calculations (e.g. areas, volumes and weights
– Extensive knowledge of construction specifications, materials, compaction and workmanship requirements
-Extensive knowledge of safe working practices using plant and machinery
-New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) Accreditation
